ABU Business School Takes Major Step Forward as Committee Submits Operationalization Report
Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) has moved closer to realizing its vision of establishing a world-class business school, as the Committee on Operationalizing ABU Business School submitted its report to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala.
The report, presented by the Committee Chairman, Prof. Raymond B. Bako, on February 14, 2025, outlines the purpose, organizational structure, and curriculum of the proposed business school. Prof. Bako, also the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, expressed optimism that the business school would become a revenue-generating arm of the university and a leading institution in the country.
In response, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kabiru Bala commended the committee for its thorough work and expressed confidence that the report would address the challenges that had hindered the business school's operationalization in the past.
To ensure the swift implementation of the report's recommendations, Prof. Bala converted the committee into an implementation committee, to be chaired by Prof. Auwalu Haruna, Director of the CBN Centre of Excellence.
The meeting also discussed the composition of the Governing Board of the business school, with suggestions made to include representatives from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), Security and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB).
This development marks a significant milestone in ABU's efforts to establish a world-class business school, and the university community looks forward to the successful implementation of the report's recommendations.
