ABU Institute of Education Organizes Workshop for Secondary School Principals
The Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, has organised a complimentary workshop for some selected neighbouring secondary school principals in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas of Kaduna State.
The event, which took place at the institute’s conference room, has 'Enhancing Principal Management Skills for Productivity', as its theme.
A total of fourteen principals representing both public and private secondary schools attended the workshop.
Speaking at the event, the Director, Institute of Education, Prof A M Jumare, said the initiative was to fulfill one of the institute’s mandates, to provide training and engage in community service.
Prof Jumare said it was also to improve management skills of the principals in order to foster greater productivity.
Specifically, the workshop objectives are as follows: to refine principals' competencies in conflict resolution in secondary schools; to improve the efficacy of school record-keeping practices; and expand principals' expertise in internal school supervision.
During occasion, the Director of the institute, Prof A M Jumare, presented a paper, titled 'Conflict Management', while Prof Aminu Sambo spoke on 'School Management Records'. Also, Dr Usman Mohammed talked on 'Internal School Supervision'.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of certificates of attendance to the participants by the Director of the institute, Prof A M Jumare.
Prof Jumare encouraged the participating principals to feel free and seek assistance from the institute.
