Aiyedatiwa Approves N1.2bn for OAUSTECH Projects

Ondo State Governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has announced the approval of a N1.2 billion grant to Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (OAUSTECH), to complete some abandoned projects on the campus. Governor Aiyedatiwa made this announcement during the second convocation ceremony of OAUSTECH held on the university campus in Okitipupa.

In addition to the grant, Governor Aiyedatiwa also declared automatic employment for the best-graduating student at the university, Miss Adedayo Janet. He expressed his commitment to the development of OAUSTECH, emphasizing the importance of ongoing projects such as the School of Maritime Transport and Logistics at Ugbonla, which is 60% complete and is expected to benefit the Ondo State Deep Seaport Project and the country's Blue Economy development.

The N1.2 billion capital grant allocated in the 2024 budget to OAUSTECH aims to expedite the completion of abandoned buildings, particularly those of the School of Science and others. Governor Aiyedatiwa assured that the institution's monthly subvention of N91 million would also be given due consideration to enhance its operations.

Furthermore, Governor Aiyedatiwa promised to facilitate the completion of abandoned hostel buildings funded by the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Ondo State Oil-producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) without further delay.

In his remarks, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Adebo Adesomoju, expressed gratitude to Governor Aiyedatiwa for directing the continuation of ongoing construction projects within the institution. The Vice-Chancellor of OAUSTECH, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, revealed that a total of 1,202 students were conferred with first degrees during the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions.
