ASUU-YUMSUK Branch Stages Peaceful Protest Over Unfulfilled 2009 Agreement

In adherence to the directives issued by the National body of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Yusuf Maitama Sule University, Kano (YUMSUK) branch today organized a peaceful protest within the university premises.

The protest was in response to the Federal Government's failure to pay entitlements and complete the implementation of the 2009 ASUU/FG Agreement.

The demonstration was led by the Chairman of the ASUU-YUMSUK branch, Comrade Mansur Sa'id, PhD. The protest began at the Directorate of Academic Planning on the main campus, proceeded to the campus gate, and concluded at the Senate building. There, the protesters handed over their press release to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academics, Dr. Tijjani Rufa'i Buhari. This press release is intended for onward submission to the Visitor of the University, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, for further necessary actions.

The protest, marked by its peaceful and well-coordinated nature, reflects the commitment of ASUU-YUMSUK members to advocate for their rights and uphold the agreements made with the Federal Government. The union members reiterated their demand for the fulfillment of the entitlements promised under the 2009 ASUU/FG Agreement.
