Bayero University Faculty of Engineering Hosts Workshop on COREN Outcome-Based Education Accreditation

The Faculty of Engineering at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), organized a one-day training workshop on COREN Outcome-Based Education (OBE) accreditation.

The event, held on October 24, 2024, aimed to equip departments with the knowledge and tools required for successful accreditation.

Renowned expert Professor Baba Jibril El Yakub facilitated the workshop, which brought together key stakeholders, including the Dean, Professor Mohammed Shu'aibu Abubakar, Deputy Dean, Heads of Departments, and staff from each department.

Professor El Yakub emphasized the importance of embracing Outcome-Based Education as a framework for delivering quality engineering programs. He guided participants on designing program educational objectives, program learning outcomes, and course learning outcomes, as well as curriculum mapping, assessment techniques, and self-study report preparation.

 

The Dean expressed gratitude to Professor El Yakub for his expert facilitation and encouraged departments to adopt the OBE framework to strengthen their programs. The workshop concluded with a collaborative discussion session, outlining strategies for effective OBE implementation and continuous quality improvement in teaching and learning.
