The Centre for Qur'anic Studies at Bayero University, Kano, has successfully hosted a colloquium on Imam Capacity Building, bringing together renowned scholars and experts from diverse Islamic sects.

The event aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of Imams and Islamic leaders, emphasizing their critical role in guiding society.

 

In his opening remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, represented by the DVC Management Services, Professor Mahmud Umar Sani, commended the Centre for Qur'anic Studies for organizing the collaborative event. He highlighted the fundamental role of Imams in society, describing them as custodians of the mosque, a sacred institution in the Muslim community.

Professor Abbas urged Imams to transform mosques into hubs of knowledge, moral guidance, and community development, leveraging their influence to address social challenges and guide the younger generation towards righteousness and social responsibility.

The Director of the Centre for Qur'anic Studies, Professor Ahmad Murtala, disclosed that the event was designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of Imams and Islamic leaders. Participants praised the organizers for providing a platform for meaningful engagement and exchange of ideas.

 

The colloquium underscored the importance of Imam capacity building in addressing societal challenges and promoting community development. It emphasized the need for Imams to be equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively guide their communities and promote social responsibility.
