Bayero University Kano to Hold Handing and Taking Over Ceremony

The Vice Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has invited members of the university community to the Handing/Taking Over Ceremony of the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Monday, August 18, 2025, at the Senate Chamber, Abubakar Rasheed Senate Building, 5th Floor, New Campus, by 11:00 a.m.

Professor Haruna Musa has been appointed as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, succeeding Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, whose tenure ends on August 18, 2025. Professor Musa's appointment was announced by the Governing Council after a meeting on July 3, 2025 .

The outgoing Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, has been at the helm of affairs in the university since 2020, leading various initiatives to promote research, education, and community engagement. During his tenure, the university has witnessed significant developments, including the completion of the International Conference Centre, which was commissioned on August 14, 2025, with funding from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) .
