Borno Education Commissioner Cracks Down on Misconduct by Final-Year Students

The Honourable Commissioner of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Engineer Lawan Abba Wakilbe, has taken decisive action against misconduct by final-year secondary school students in Borno State.

Following a meeting with education stakeholders, including ANCOPSS, NAPS, and senior officials, Commissioner Wakilbe expressed concern over vandalism, inappropriate inscriptions, and illegal gatherings by SSS3 students. He warned that schools with students found in violation would face severe consequences, including potential closure.

Education Secretary Dr. Mala Kulloma, ANCOPSS leader Abba Ali Ladan, and NAPS leader Babagana Alkali pledged to take strict measures to prevent misconduct, including withholding results from offending students.

Commissioner Wakilbe also visited the Police Headquarters and NSCDC command to request support in preventing escalation and ensuring student safety. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Bello, and NSCDC Commandant Musa Faruq Boyi assured that proactive measures were in place to address the issue.

The Borno State Ministry of Education remains committed to maintaining a conducive learning environment and preventing harmful practices among final-year students.
