BUK Inducts 315 Medical and Health Professionals

Bayero University has inducted a total of 315 health professionals from the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences in its 2nd, 9th and 25th Harmonized Induction Ceremony for Doctor of Optometry (44), Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (68), Bachelor of Medical Radiography (58), Bachelor of Nursing Sciences and Bachelor of Physiotherapy (69) respectively.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sagir Adamu Abbas, who was the chief host of the occasion reiterated the University’s unwavering resolve to continue to give the College of Health Sciences all the necessary support for its programs as the College produces the large chunk of health professionals in the countr

The Vice Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Professor Sani Muhammad Gumel, said the University is continually committed to meeting the demands of these professions by providing the requisite facilities and supporting staff to attend conferences with a view to enhancing their capacit

 As the inductees took Hippocratic Oath, he charged them to take their oath seriously and adhere to the code of ethics of their respective profession

While congratulating the graduands for realizing their dreams, Professor Abbas admonished them to be good ambassadors of the University in their chosen career and urged them to contribute their part as the nation now grapples with some health challenges such as epidemics and pandemic

Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Jibril Muhammad, described the event as historic one for being the first combined Induction Ceremony for the Five (5) programs in the faculty. He thanked the Vice Chancellor for providing the right leadership and massive support for the faculty especially in training these graduate

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Occasion and Chief Medical Director of AKTH, Prof. ABdurahman Abba Sheshe, who was represented by CMAC, Professor Gajida, charged them to render selfless services to humanity as any error from their part can lead to the loss of life of their patients hence the need to seek for more knowledge as they have no monopoly of knowledg

The Provost of the College who was the host, Prof. Aisha Kuliya Gwarzo, implored the graduands to treat their patients as they would treat their families with utmost respect and dignit

Advising the graduands, a senior member of the Faculty, Prof. A.J. Alhassan pointed out that the quality of any medical facility was hinged on collaborative efforts of all medical professionals. He appealed to them to imbibe the spirit of honesty, patience and generosity in dealing with their patient

On her part, the Director Africa Centre for Population Health and Policy (ACEPHAP), Professor Hadiza S. Galadanchi, enjoined the graduands to be good team players as that is requisite for practice in the health professio
