BUK Shines at West Africa Games, As Tennis, Basketball Clinch Medals

Bayero University, Kano (BUK) showcased its athletic prowess at the recently concluded 15th West Africa University Games (WAUG) held at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, securing a collection of medals across tennis and basketball events.

In an exceptional performance, BUK's tennis contingent secured two silver and one bronze medal in both singles and doubles categories. The women's basketball team demonstrated remarkable skill, narrowly missing the gold to OAU in a closely contested final, earning a commendable silver medal. Meanwhile, the men's basketball team secured a bronze medal, finishing as the third-ranked team in the tournament, following a gripping match against Lagos State University (LASU), ending with a 14-13 victory for BUK.

Sunusi Badway, Chief Coach of Basketball, attributed the teams' success to rigorous training programs, including the Kano City Basketball League for the men's team, lauding the dedication and effort displayed by the BUK athletes. He highlighted the significance of these achievements in enhancing the university's reputation on a broader stage.
