John explained that Chowtapp emerged from real campus experiences: students often struggled to get meals between classes and study sessions. Motivated to create a practical solution, the team focused on building an intuitive, fast, and reliable platform that matched the pace of campus life.
The project involved extensive brainstorming, research, and real-time problem solving. The app’s simplicity and speed were key priorities, ensuring users could request meals with just a few taps. The team balanced academic workloads with product development, demonstrating discipline, teamwork, and shared responsibility—qualities McPherson University consistently fosters in its students.
Chowtapp’s breakthrough came during the McPherson University Tech Expo, where the team’s presentation won top honors. Student reception was overwhelmingly positive, confirming the app addressed a real need. User feedback has since guided iterative improvements, enhancing delivery locations, app flow, and notification systems, highlighting the University’s focus on community-centered, continuous innovation.
The platform was built on a cross-platform development framework and supported by cloud services for data management, authentication, and secure payment processing. This approach allowed rapid iteration, scalability, and stability, equipping students with practical experience in digital transformation and technology deployment.
Chowtapp is already transforming campus life by providing convenient, reliable access to meals without disrupting academic routines. John encourages fellow students to start with real problems, build a simple solution, iterate based on feedback, and work as a team.
Looking ahead, the team plans to strengthen Chowtapp on McPherson University’s campus before expanding to other institutions and eventually city communities. Their long-term vision is to establish a trusted, efficient, and widely accessible food delivery ecosystem, one campus at a time.
Chowtapp exemplifies McPherson University’s commitment to nurturing problem solvers, innovators, and change-makers who can translate ideas into practical solutions with tangible impact on their communities.
