Edo State University, Iyamho, on February 12, 2026, organised its Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) orientation programme for newly admitted students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The event, held at the Tetfund Building, formally welcomed candidates into the university’s JUPEB programme, designed as an alternative pathway to 200-level undergraduate admission without the requirement of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The orientation programme introduced students to the university’s academic structure, institutional expectations, and available support systems. Participants received detailed briefings on the operational framework of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board programme, including curriculum structure, assessment procedures, and standards of academic discipline required for successful completion.

University officials explained that the JUPEB programme runs as a one-year intensive academic course, allowing students to combine three subjects relevant to their intended fields of study. The programme currently cuts across several faculties of the university, including Law, Clinical Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences, Science, Engineering, Arts, as well as Management and Social Sciences.

The exercise formed part of the university’s efforts to properly integrate new students into the academic system while preparing them for a seamless transition into full undergraduate studies.
