The School of Business and Management Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Bali has kicked off its 5th Annual National Conference, centering on the urgent need for interdisciplinary solutions to Nigeria’s environmental challenges.

The four-day event, running from February 10–13, 2026, is themed “Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Biodiversity Conservation and Management for Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria.”

Lead Paper Presentation: Professor Daniel Emeka Oruonye, a renowned environmental scientist from Taraba State University (TSU), delivered a critical analysis of Nigeria’s ecological health. He highlighted the "alarmingly high" rates of deforestation, habitat degradation, and climate change impacts, calling for immediate multidisciplinary collaboration to protect the nation's natural resources.

Institutional Commitment: Declaring the conference open on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Mohammed Usman, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Yahaya Tukur, emphasized that the Polytechnic remains dedicated to providing research-driven solutions to Nigeria's national problems.

Scholarly Engagement: The Dean of the School, Dr. Sani Abdullahi, revealed that the conference attracted over 60 research abstracts from scholars nationwide. He noted that the hybrid format (physical and virtual) was adopted to ensure the widest possible dissemination of conservation strategies.

Technical Deliberations: Following a vote of thanks by Dr. Mrs. Florence Nnaji Oluchi, Head of Department for Office Technology and Management, the conference transitioned into technical sessions where researchers are currently presenting findings on sustainable environmental management.

The conference serves as a critical junction for policy advocates and academics to address the biodiversity crisis in Nigeria through the lens of business, technology, and science.
