Clina-Lancet Laboratories Donates 3,000 Sanitary Pads to Queen's College Lagos Students
During the distribution event on Tuesday, Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, Managing Director of Clina-Lancet Laboratories Nigeria, expressed concern about the lack of access to sanitary pads, which often leads to unhygienic practices and absenteeism from school.
Clina-Lancet Laboratories Nigeria has donated sanitary pads and educational materials to students at Queen’s College, Lagos, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3. This goal aims to "ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages."
The firm donated over 3,000 sanitary pads to improve menstrual hygiene and alleviate the high cost burden for the girls. During the distribution event on Tuesday, Dr. Olayemi Dawodu, Managing Director of Clina-Lancet Laboratories Nigeria, expressed concern about the lack of access to sanitary pads, which often leads to unhygienic practices and absenteeism from school.

Dr. Dawodu emphasized the importance of menstrual hygiene and called for collaboration between the private sector and non-governmental organizations to ensure the availability of sanitary pads for schoolgirls across Nigeria. “Proper menstrual hygiene can significantly reduce the risk of infections and ensure girls can participate fully in school and daily activities,” she stated.
The National Library of Medicine describes menstrual hygiene management as using clean, absorbent materials to manage menstrual blood, changing materials regularly, washing hands with soap and water after changing, and having access to private facilities for changing and disposal.

In her address, Dr. Amaka Nwigwe, Wellness Occupational Manager for Clina-Lancet Laboratories, highlighted the broader aspects of menstrual hygiene, which include comfort and confidence for the girl child. “It’s about making sure that girls are not embarrassed and can discuss menstruation openly,” she explained.
Mrs. Oyindamola Obabori, Principal of Queen’s College, represented by Vice Principal of Student Affairs Mrs. Adebiyi Titilayo, expressed gratitude to Clina-Lancet Laboratories for their initiative. “Equipping our girls with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their periods effectively is essential for their well-being and academic success,” she noted.
