Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University has commenced the digital archiving of more than 55,000 academic transcripts in what the institution describes as a major shift from manual administration to a technology-driven system.

The Vice-Chancellor, Kate Azuka Omenugha, disclosed this during a press conference held on April 21, 2026, at the university’s conference room ahead of its 16th Convocation Week.
According to the Vice-Chancellor, the project forms part of a broader institutional reform aimed at modernising the university’s administrative structure, improving efficiency, and enhancing service delivery for graduates and other stakeholders.
She explained that upon assuming office, she met a university system still heavily dependent on paper-based operations, a situation she described as outdated and unsuitable for the realities of a rapidly evolving digital world.
“At the moment, we are archiving 55,000 transcripts,” she said, describing the initiative as one of the most significant reforms undertaken by her administration.
The transition is expected to significantly reduce long-standing challenges associated with manual transcript processing, including delays, misplaced records, and bureaucratic bottlenecks that have affected graduates seeking academic documentation for employment and further studies.
University officials say the digital system will ultimately allow alumni to access and process academic records more efficiently, while positioning the institution in line with global best practices in university administration and data management.
Kate Azuka Omenugha noted that the transcript digitisation project is part of a wider agenda to reposition Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University as a forward-looking institution driven by innovation, accessibility, and operational excellence.

She added that the ongoing transformation reflects the university’s long-term commitment to digital governance and improved academic administration rather than a one-off intervention tied to the convocation activities.
