Chukwumemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) in Igbariam, Anambra State, has embarked on a significant organizational restructuring aimed at enhancing its research capabilities. The university has announced the establishment of a Research Management Office (RMO) to supersede the existing Centre for Research Development and Innovation (CRD&I) Office.

According to statements released by Dr. Harrison Madubueze, the Public Relations Officer of the university, the decision to establish the RMO underscores the institution's commitment to fostering a vibrant research culture. This initiative has been endorsed by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha.

The RMO will be comprised of a 16-member committee, with key roles distributed among distinguished faculty members and experts in various fields. Among the appointed members are prominent academics such as Prof. J.C. Ifemeje, Dr. JohnBosco Egbueri, and Dr. Chukwunonso S. Ekesiobi, who will serve as Directors and Associate Directors.

Furthermore, the RMO will be responsible for overseeing collaboration and linkages with external institutions and organizations, as well as managing intellectual property and patents arising from research activities conducted within the university.

The inauguration ceremony for the Research Management Office is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 21st February 2024, at 10:30 am in the Senate Chambers, Igbariam Campus. The university administration has extended invitations to members of the academic community, including the University Management Committee, the University Professors Forum, Deans of Faculties, Directors of Units, and postgraduate students.

This strategic move by COOU reflects its dedication to advancing research excellence and innovation, positioning itself as a hub for cutting-edge scholarship and knowledge creation in Anambra State and beyond.
