The Delta State Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing medical education in the region by approving the establishment of a College of Medical Sciences at the Delta State University of Science and Technology (DSUST), Ozoro.

The decision was reached during the State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday at Government House, Asaba, and presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, outlined the key decisions, noting that the approval marks an important milestone in the state's commitment to expanding healthcare training facilities. The College of Medical Sciences at DSUST Ozoro is expected to play a crucial role in addressing the growing demand for qualified medical professionals in the state and beyond.

Osuoza, alongside other top government officials, including the Commissioners for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Reuben Izeze; Works (Rural and Riverine Roads), Charles Aniagwu; and Higher Education, Professor Nyerovwo Tonukari, confirmed that the government is also focused on compensating landowners whose properties were acquired for the establishment of another DSUST campus in Orerokpe.

The government's move to establish a medical college at the university highlights its ongoing efforts to prioritize higher education and healthcare development, a key aspect of Governor Oborevwori’s administration. The newly approved College of Medical Sciences will further solidify Delta State's position as an educational hub in the region, offering new opportunities for aspiring medical professionals.
