Dowen College Qualifies for Conrad Competition Semifinals

Dowen College in Lagos has successfully secured a place in the semifinals of the Conrad competition. All three teams from Dowen College have qualified for the next stage, with the potential to advance further to the finals and even reach the NASA Space Station in the United States.

Team ACE, focusing on combating alcohol-induced cancer, aims to develop an app containing enlightenment campaigns on the connection between alcohol and cancer, rehabilitation plans for alcohol addicts, alternative income sources for brewery workers, and palliative care for cancer patients. The team members include Oluwanifemi Adebara, Tolulope Doherty, Ogunjobi Muizz, Owube Munachimso, and Abagun Busayo.

Team SAE is creating an app with enlightenment campaigns on the health risks of smoking, rehabilitation plans for smokers, and alternative sources of income for tobacco farmers. The team comprises Olarewaju Seyi, Nwofor Chibuikem, Sameerah Lawan, Sadiq Kamaldeen, and Awotoye Temilayo.

Lastly, Team CHE is dedicated to promoting clean and healthy environments worldwide, addressing the annual loss of plant and animal lives due to pollution. Their app will include campaigns on the benefits of clean environments and the health risks associated with unclean surroundings. Team CHE consists of Olubitan Korede, Kosisochukwu, Ogunmoroti Kayode, Awe David, and Afolabi Onabanjo. The teacher and coach for the teams was Mr. Shakiru Olaitan.
