The Directorate of University Advancement and International Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, has organised a three-day training workshop for staff of its advancement unit and the university faculty officers on digital skills.

The workshop, “Alumni Tracing and Digital Skills under the DL17 Institutional Impact”, was organised in collaboration with the Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

Declaring the workshop open at the CBN Centre for Economics and Finance on Wednesday, 25th October, 2023, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kabiru Bala, commended the Directorate for taking the right step to organize the training for the benefit of its staff and the University Faculty Alumni officers at large.

The Vice-Chancellor, who was represented by the Deputy Centre Leader, Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology, Prof. M. Mamman, reminded the Directorate of its key functions that include engaging alumni, parents, friends of the University to raise critically important philanthropic support for the institution.

Prof. Bala further stressed that the Directorate was also responsible for ensuring that donors were appropriately recognized and as well informed about the impact their support would make on ABU’s mandate of teaching, learning and community service.

The Vice-Chancellor, who described advancement as a bonding relationship between a university and its alumni, expressed hope that participants of the workshop would make positive change in reaching out to the University alumni digitally.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Director, Directorate of University Advancement and International Education, Prof. Sani Abba Aliyu, commended the effort of the Centre DL17 towards strengthening the advancement office and establish a tracer system for all University graduates.

The Director expressed appreciation to members of the DL17 Committee for making the training a reality, and urged them to make good use of the training by maintaining the standard of the University.
