Eighty Firms Compete for ABU’s 2025 Capital and TETFund Projects
Eighty consultancy and construction firms have submitted bids for the 2025 Capital Appropriations and Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) projects at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. The pre-qualification exercise, held on Monday, February 9, 2026, marks the commencement of the university’s latest infrastructure development cycle.
The bidding process covers the 2025 TETFund Annual Merged Maintenance Interventions as well as the 2023/2024/2025 Capital Appropriations projects, highlighting a significant scale of planned upgrades for the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor and Chairman of the ABU Tenders Board, Professor Adamu Ahmed, officially opened the exercise at the University Procurement Office. Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Bello Sabo, the Vice-Chancellor assured all participating firms of a level playing field.
"The university awards all contracts in strict compliance with the Public Procurement Act of 2007," Professor Ahmed stated, emphasizing the institution's commitment to transparency, accountability, and merit in its selection process.
The participating firms represent a broad spectrum of technical expertise, including:
Architectural and Structural Engineering
Quantity Surveying
Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
A representative from TETFund, Kamal Yahaya, attended the session and expressed satisfaction with the orderly and transparent conduct of the proceedings. The exercise was also witnessed by key university officials, including representatives from the Academic Planning & Monitoring Unit, the Bursary, and the Directorate of Physical Planning & Municipal Services.
This latest procurement round is expected to further enhance ABU's physical infrastructure, ensuring the university maintains its capacity to host its vast student population and research facilities
