Ekiti State Governor Appoints Dr. Sunday Ajeigbe as New Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic
Ekiti State Governor has appointed Dr. Ajeigbe as new Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic. The appointment takes effect from September 2, 2024.
Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has officially named Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe as the new Rector of Ekiti State Polytechnic, Isan-Ekiti.
The appointment, which takes effect from September 2, 2024, follows the end of Prof. Johnson Kayode Adesodun's tenure, the former Rector of the polytechnic.
Dr. Ajeigbe holds a doctorate degree in Chemistry. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Deputy Rector at the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Ondo State.
Born in Ayede-Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, Dr. Ajeigbe completed his secondary education at Ayede Grammar School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Industrial Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in 1992.
Dr. Ajeigbe also earned an MBA from FUTA in 2003 and an M.Sc in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Ibadan in the same year. His doctoral studies took place at Universiti Teknologi, Malaysia, where he obtained a PhD in Chemistry in 2017.
Dr. Ajeigbe began his career as an Assistant Quality Control Officer at the National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc. He later served as a Product Development Officer at Rockwool Nigeria Limited. Joining the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State in 1999, he rose to the position of Chief Lecturer. At Federal Polytechnic Bida, he held various academic and administrative roles, including Head of Unit, Head of Department, and Coordinator of Accreditation Programme.
In February 2023, he transferred to the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, where he continued as a Chief Lecturer in the Science Laboratory Technology Department. Dr. Ajeigbe's leadership also extended to serving as Director of Research, Development, and Innovation before becoming Deputy Rector in September 2023.
Governor Oyebanji encourages Dr. Ajeigbe to leverage his academic and administrative experience to elevate Ekiti State Polytechnic, in order to position the institution as a world-class center for technical education.
