Federal Polytechnic Bauchi Trains 60 Quality Assurance Assessors in TVET Milestone
Federal Polytechnic Bauchi has recorded another historic milestone in its drive to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria with the successful training and certification of 60 Quality Assurance Assessors (QAAs).
The three-month intensive programme, organised by the NBTE Centre of Excellence for TVET at the Institute for Skills Development and Vocational Training (ISDVT), further cements the Polytechnic’s reputation as a leading hub for skills development in the country.
The certificate presentation ceremony was held yesterday at the old Council Chambers of the Polytechnic and was presided over by the Rector, Alh. Sani Usman. He was joined by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Dalhatu Sa’idu Abubakar, and the Registrar, Alh. Kasimu Salihu, alongside other management staff of the Polytechnic.

In his remarks, the Rector congratulated the newly graduated QAAs for their steadfastness, perseverance, and commitment throughout the rigorous training. He urged them to put the knowledge and competencies acquired into practice by impacting students through the Mandatory Skills Qualification (MSQ), describing the training as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce.
Speaking at the event, the Director of ISDVT, Engr. Dr. Ahmad Y. Jumba, expressed appreciation to the Rector for nominating the participants and for providing the enabling environment that made the programme a success. He also thanked the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for providing the resource persons and TETFund for funding the training.
Dr. Jumba noted that the 60 participants comprised 33 staff members from the formal sector and 27 from the informal sector, a combination he said would broaden the impact of the training across different levels of skills development. He further disclosed that Federal Polytechnic Bauchi now has about 74 qualified and certified QAAs, making it the institution with the highest number of QAAs in the country.
According to him, this achievement reflects the seriousness with which the Polytechnic approaches technical and vocational education, quality assurance, and manpower development.
In their separate comments, two beneficiaries, Comr . Hussaini Yaro Ali and Mal Umar Abdullahi described the training as transformative and expressed gratitude to all the visionaries, facilitators, and institutional leaders who contributed to the success of the programme. The event was widely seen as an indicator to the Polytechnic’s growing influence in TVET transformation and skills innovation.
