Federal Polytechnic Oko and Oko Progressive Union Make Strides Towards Improved Electricity
Student representatives from Federal Polytechnic Oko, alongside Oko Progressive Union executives, engage with EEDC to address electricity challenges in Oko community; Collective effort aims to bolster academic environment through improved power supply.
In a landmark move earlier today, representatives from the Student Union Government (SUG) of Federal Polytechnic Oko, led by His Excellency Giant Comr Ogbu Kingsley (Kingsmelody), paid a courtesy visit to the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC (EEDC) Ekwulobia District. Accompanying them were executives of the Oko Progressive Union (OPU), spearheaded by Capt. Casmir Nwafor.
The primary objective of the visit was two-fold: firstly, to introduce the newly elected executives of OPU, who assumed office on December 30, 2023, and secondly, to address the pressing electricity issues plaguing the Oko community.

As a representative of the student body, Comr Ogbu Kingsley actively listened to the challenges faced by EEDC in providing consistent electricity, recognizing that this is not just a local issue but a national concern requiring attention from the highest levels of government, including the Tinubu Administration.

One of the focal points of discussion was the detrimental impact of erratic electricity supply on students' academic pursuits. The low levels of electricity in the community have significantly hindered students' ability to study effectively, thereby impeding their academic progress.

In response, the EEDC assured the delegation that they are committed to addressing the challenges and pledged to make every effort within their capacity to improve electricity supply to the Oko community, including the student populace.
The collaborative efforts between Federal Polytechnic Oko, OPU, and EEDC underscore a collective determination to tackle the electricity challenges head-on and pave the way for a brighter, more electrified future for Oko.
