Federal Polytechnic Oko Inaugurates 12th Governing Council

The Federal Government has officially inaugurated the 12th Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Oko, alongside councils of other federal tertiary institutions that were dissolved last year. The inauguration ceremony, presided over by the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, marks a significant milestone in the governance and administration of the institution.

Senator Engr. Barnabas Gemade OFR has been appointed as the Chairman of the newly inaugurated Governing Council. Other distinguished members of the council include Martins Babale, Mrs. Ukel-Akeoli Oyaghiri, Hon. Hail Mary Aipoh, Mohammed Yushau (FME Representative), Mrs. Pamela Nwansoh, and Dr. Uche Onyegbu, the Acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic Oko.

During the inauguration, the Minister of Education emphasized the council members' pivotal role in ensuring the effective management, sustainable growth, and development of their respective institutions. He charged them to familiarize themselves with the institutional acts, government policies, white papers, circulars, and other relevant documents that guide the operations of federal MDAs (Ministries, Departments, and Agencies).

"As a council, you must ensure that proper attention and priority are given to the relevant acts of the institutions and government guidelines for the process of appointments, ensuring fairness and transparency," Prof. Mamman emphasized.

The composition of the Governing Council will include the Deputy Rector, five elected staff members from Federal Polytechnic Oko chosen by the Academic Board and Congregation respectively, an alumni representative, and a representative from the host community. The Ag. Registrar of the institution will serve as the Secretary to the Council, facilitating administrative and procedural matters.
