Federal University Lokoja Holds Comprehensive Orientation for Preclinical Medical and Nursing Students
The orientation programme, held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, was aimed at preparing preclinical students for the demanding transition into professional medical training.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, alongside the Provost of the College, Professor Michael Ozovehe Ogirima, mni, delivered keynote addresses at the event, offering practical insights on academic discipline, professionalism and ethical conduct expected of medical students.
The programme featured a series of focused lectures by experienced resource persons, addressing key areas critical to students’ success. These included detailed explanations on CGPA computation and strategies for maintaining high academic standards during the preclinical phase. Students were also briefed on institutional policies, including the College’s dress code and the general code of conduct guiding medical training.
Other sessions focused on infrastructure management, with guidance on proper maintenance of laboratories and halls of residence, as well as campus safety, where students received essential tips on security awareness within and around the university environment.
In addition, Deans, Heads of Departments and the College Secretary made presentations that provided participants with a comprehensive understanding of the administrative and academic structure of the university’s medical college.
The exercise reinforces the commitment of the Federal University Lokoja to producing well-rounded healthcare professionals equipped with sound technical knowledge, discipline and exemplary character.
