Federal University of Education Zaria to Sponsor 20 Staff for Quality Assurance Certification

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, has pledged to sponsor the training of 20 staff members to obtain the Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) certification as part of efforts to strengthen internal quality assurance mechanisms within the institution.

Prof. Bunkure made the commitment while receiving Mr. Shettima Inuwa of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), who paid an official visit to the University in his capacity as an Internal Quality Assurance Assessor.

The Vice-Chancellor said the initiative is aimed at increasing the number of certified Quality Assurance Assessors in the University to enhance compliance with regulatory standards and improve overall service delivery.

“At least 20 members of staff will be sponsored to undergo the QAA training,” Prof. Bunkure stated, reaffirming the University’s commitment to institutional excellence and regulatory compliance.

He further directed the Director of the Directorate for Skills Development and Linkages, Dr. Amina Sani, to liaise with the NBTE to negotiate the cost and determine a suitable venue for the proposed training programme.

In his remarks, Mr. Inuwa outlined practical strategies for expanding the pool of certified Quality Assurance Assessors within the University. He emphasized that increasing the number of trained assessors would strengthen compliance mechanisms and promote higher standards in academic and administrative operations.

Mr. Inuwa also expressed satisfaction with the performance of participants in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme. He commended the University for providing adequate training materials to support the initiative.

The NBTE official was led to the Vice-Chancellor’s office by Dr. Amina Sani as part of activities marking his official assessment visit.
