Female Student Allegedly Kills Newborn at Jigawa University Hostel
The university’s department of works arrived with a vehicle to take away the deceased baby and the mother.

A female student at the Federal University Dutse (FUD) in Jigawa State has allegedly killed her newborn baby inside the university's hostel. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, when the student, whose identity remains unknown, gave birth and then threw the baby from the top floor of a three-story hostel building.
Videos of the incident have circulated widely, showing students questioning the mother about her actions. In one clip, students can be heard asking, "You can see this girl o. Why did you do this?" Another video captures the students' reactions as they discovered the lifeless body of the baby on the ground. The university’s department of works arrived with a vehicle to take away the deceased baby and the mother.

When contacted by the media on Tuesday, Lawan Shiishu Adam, spokesperson for the Jigawa police, confirmed that an investigation is underway. However, he stated that he could not confirm all details of the incident at the time.
“We are investigating the matter. I do not know if the matter has been reported yet. Allow me to confirm from the video so that I can feed you back,” Adam said.The authorities have pledged to provide more information as the investigation progresses.
