FETHI CMD Pledges Enhanced Collaboration During Ekiti State House of Assembly Visit

The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido-Ekiti (FETHI), Prof. Kolawole Ogundipe, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening collaboration across the health sector following a courtesy visit by members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Committee on Health.

Welcoming the delegation, Prof. Ogundipe expressed appreciation for the visit and emphasized the importance of synergy among stakeholders, noting that effective healthcare delivery requires collective effort beyond institutional boundaries.

He briefed the lawmakers on recent developments at FETHI, including the graduation of seven sets of medical students in partnership with Afe Babalola University, the hospital’s role as the teaching hospital for the Federal University Oye-Ekiti College of Medicine, ongoing plans to commence Assisted Reproductive Technology (IVF) services, and its exclusive partnership with Smile Train, USA, for the treatment of cleft lip and palate.

“Deliberate networking and alliances remain vital, even without formal oversight linkages. A peaceful operating environment enables better service delivery and we value the support of critical stakeholders such as the State Assembly,” he added.

Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Health, Hon. Abimbola Solanke, said the visit was to formally congratulate the CMD on his appointment and reaffirm the Assembly’s role as partners in progress. She noted that although FETHI is a federal institution, the Assembly remains a key stakeholder representing the people of Ekiti, who form the bulk of the hospital’s patients.

She also recalled the Committee’s longstanding professional relationship with Prof. Ogundipe from his time at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH) and Afe Babalola Multi-System Hospital (AMSH), commending his track record of service and leadership.

Other members of the delegation described his appointment as “a higher calling” and a testament to his competence, while emphasizing the need for continued collaboration, particularly in addressing constituents’ feedback and creating opportunities for qualified Ekiti youths during recruitment.

Giving the vote of thanks, the Director of Administration, Mrs. Foluso Adelegan, on behalf of the hospital management, appreciated the lawmakers for the visit, describing them as partners in progress. She expressed confidence that the CMD’s leadership would bring further development to the institution and assured the delegation of the hospital’s continued openness to collaboration.
