The Federal Ministry of Education has restated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and value for money in public procurement with the convening of the 7th Ministerial Tenders Board (MTB) meeting for 2025.

The meeting, held on December 30, 2025, was chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Abel Eniitan, and focused on the consideration of procurement memoranda submitted by institutions under the Ministry’s supervision.
In his opening address, Mr. Eniitan welcomed members of the Board and underscored the core principles guiding the MTB’s operations, particularly value for money and fitness for purpose. He stressed that these principles are critical to the prudent management of public resources and to ensuring that government-funded projects deliver tangible benefits to Nigerians. According to him, the Board’s decisions were carefully taken to support effective project execution and to strengthen public confidence in government procurement processes.
The Director of Procurement, Mrs. Etokhana Cecilia, briefed the Board on the outcomes of its previous meeting held on December 19, 2025. She disclosed that approvals granted at the 6th MTB meeting for several memoranda submitted by tertiary institutions had since received ministerial concurrence and were now cleared for implementation in line with due process requirements.

During deliberations at the meeting, Board members emphasized the need for strict adherence to procurement regulations by beneficiary institutions. They also highlighted the importance of timely compliance with approval conditions, noting that effective implementation of approved projects is essential to achieving their intended objectives and maintaining public trust.
The meeting concluded with the consideration of additional procurement requests, with assurances that all approvals and decisions were guided by due diligence, national interest, and the overarching goal of improving service delivery across Nigeria’s education sector.
