FinTribe, a women-focused finance platform, recently held a successful financial literacy program at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) to empower female students. Themed "Girls Talk Money," the event took place on Friday in partnership with the Office of the Vice President of the Great Ife Student Union Government (SUG).

Jennifer Awirigwe, the founder of FinTribe and widely known as Financial Jennifer, emphasized the event's goal of mentoring young women to enhance their financial skills and build a sustainable future. She highlighted FinTribe’s commitment to financial education and inclusion, aiming to empower future generations and leaders.

The program included discussions on building earning capacity, innovative business ideas, the power of early investing and compounding, and guidelines for participating in public share offers from leading banks. FinTribe engaged students in interactive sessions, and prizes were awarded to encourage and inspire the students. Five students received 5,000 units of a bank’s stock, ten students won cash awards to start their investment journeys, and free copies of "The Smart Money Woman" by Arese Ugwu were distributed to some of the students.

Besides Awirigwe, the FinTribe team included Chinenye Enechukwu, the project coordinator, and Sandra Adebayo, who contributed to the discussions. Omoyosola Adekoya, Vice President of OAU’s SUG, praised FinTribe for the significant impact on students' financial knowledge and the motivational cash prizes. She noted the event's success underscores the vital role of financial literacy in empowering young women.

Jennifer Awirigwe called for more sponsors and partners to help expand FinTribe’s outreach to other universities across Nigeria, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to create a financially empowered generation of women.
