FUAMB Matriculates 599 Students, Reinforces Focus on Smart Agriculture and Innovation

The Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi (FUAMB), Adamawa State, has admitted 599 students into its academic community, marking a key milestone in the institution’s growth and capacity expansion.
The matriculation ceremony, held at the Sali Isa Bello Event Centre in Mubi, formally inducted the students into the 2025/2026 academic session, the second in the university’s history.
Addressing the matriculants, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Bitrus Dawi Tarfa, urged them to align with the university’s strategic focus on smart agriculture, innovation, and hands-on learning. He emphasised the institution’s commitment to producing graduates equipped with practical skills and forward-looking competencies relevant to modern agricultural systems.
The Registrar, Mrs. Fatima Saidu Bashir, welcomed the new students and encouraged them to maintain discipline and academic focus, stressing the importance of representing the university with integrity and distinction.

Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Dr. Rukaiyatu Abdulkarim Gurin, acknowledged the Federal Government’s continued investment in emerging universities, noting that such support is critical to strengthening access to specialised education.
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. David Finchiwa Jatau, described FUAMB as a strategic driver of agricultural transformation, both within the state and nationally. He urged prospective students, particularly indigenes of Adamawa, to leverage the opportunities provided by the institution.
Established on May 28, 2023, FUAMB was created to advance agricultural education in Nigeria’s North-East, with a specialised mandate in agriculture, technology, and entrepreneurship. The current matriculation builds on the university’s inaugural 2024/2025 academic session, reinforcing its trajectory as a developing hub for innovation in the agricultural sector.
