FUAMB Vice-Chancellor Flags Off TETFund-Sponsored Career Development Programme

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi, Prof Bitrus Dawi Tarfa has officially flagged off a Career Development Programme designed to equip students with critical skills, orientation, and exposure required for life after graduation. 

The programme, which commenced on Monday, 23rd February 2026, marks a significant step in preparing FUAMB students to become self-reliant, competent professionals and worthy ambassadors of the university and the nation. The programme, organized by the FUAMB Directorate of Career Services and headed by Dr Bakari Muhammad Abba, is fully sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).

In his opening remarks at the maiden ceremony held at the School of Business Centre, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Bitrus Dawi Tarfa welcomed resource persons, facilitators, staff, and students, commending the Polytechnic for its longstanding cordial relationship with FUAMB and urged participants to take full advantage of the programme. The VC further emphasised the importance of punctuality and active participation, noting that FUAMB is privileged to engage highly experienced facilitators to provide comprehensive career development training, appreciating TETFund for the timely intervention, describing it as a vital contribution toward sustaining hope and improving the future prospects of Nigerian graduates.

FUAMB Director of Career Services, Dr Bakari Muhammad Abba, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for providing the enabling environment that allowed FUAMB to benefit from the TETFund Career Development Programme, assuring that the 39 benefiting students and 11 staff members would receive training that meets both institutional and TETFund standards. He encouraged them to maximise the opportunity provided by the university to acquire practical skills essential for achieving their lifelong aspirations after graduation.

Dignitaries present at the event include the Registrar, Mrs Fatima Saidu Bashir, the University Librarian, Dr Yahuza Aliyu,the Bursar, Mr Taofiq Isiaka, Director Academic Planning, Dr Salihu Suleiman, Academic Secretary, Abubakar Saidu Bashir; and the Director of Entrepreneurial Services, Prof Philipp Addass.

Others were Prof Ibrahim Madu Gadzama, the HOD, Crop Science, Dr Jibrin Dawaki, and Dr Aliyu Abdulrahman HOD, Agricultural Economics and Extension, among other members of staff of the University.

The programme is scheduled to take place from 23rd to 27th February 2026.
