FUNAAB AMREC and FRYFOUND Host Youth Outreach in Abeokuta
On July 17, 2024, the Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in partnership with Family Resources and Youth Foundation (FRYFOUND) International, held an outreach workshop at the Oba Lipede Ultra Modern Market in Abeokuta.
The Agricultural Media Resources and Extension Centre (AMREC) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in collaboration with Family Resources and Youth Foundation (FRYFOUND) International, conducted a significant outreach workshop on July 17, 2024, at the Oba Lipede Ultra Modern Market in Kuto, Abeokuta. The event aimed to empower out-of-school youths on critical health and development issues.

Dr. Oluwakemi Irekhore, representing both Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde and AMREC Director Prof. Jacob Olaoye, opened the workshop with a focus on health, emphasizing the motto "Health is wealth." She highlighted the program’s goal of equipping participants with essential knowledge and skills for a sustainable future.
Dr. Olubukola Idowu, Team Leader of the GIYD AMREC Programmes, underscored the importance of health among market youths and women, affirming FUNAAB's commitment to translating research into community solutions. Her lecture on "Reproductive Health Needs of Youths for Sustainable Development" emphasized open communication with parents and seeking medical advice to avoid premature marriages and promote healthy lifestyles.
Mrs. Titilayo Adeyemi, Chairperson of FRYFOUND International, praised the collaboration with FUNAAB and encouraged participants to seek medical advice for health concerns. Prof. Grace Sokoya addressed cholera prevention, stressing cleanliness, proper food handling, and hygiene.

Mrs. Adenike Akinosi delivered a lecture on "Capacity Building on Sustainable Development and Self-Esteem," encouraging resilience and advising against illegal income sources. Market Board Executive Madam Ibukun Gentle expressed gratitude for the inclusion of market youths in the free health examinations and assured ongoing support for such initiatives.
The outreach workshop saw active engagement from local youths and market women, with free health screenings provided to all attendees.
