FUNAAB Governing Council Honours Distinguished Scholars for Exceptional Service

The 8th Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, during its 114th Statutory Meeting on December 3, 2025, celebrated two of the University’s distinguished scholars for their outstanding service.

The honourees were the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, and a former Council member and current Chairman of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Committee, Prof. Biodun Badmus.

The recognition event, held at the new Council Chamber, provided a platform to commend the honourees for their dedication and remarkable contributions to FUNAAB. Oba Olabomi described both professors as “men of great strength, humility, integrity, and reliability, who have consistently demonstrated uncommon dedication and the ability to multitask at the highest levels of responsibility.” He further emphasized that their contributions have left indelible footprints on the University’s development trajectory.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde lauded the duo for their unwavering commitment, stating, “We thank you for your immense contributions to FUNAAB. Your impact, particularly in breaking new grounds, will not be forgotten.” He also acknowledged Prof. Badmus for his prudent management as Chairman of the CSR Committee.

Other Council members paid glowing tributes, highlighting the honourees’ humility, cooperative spirit, and steadfast dedication. Prof. Akinyemi’s recent appointment as Vice-Chancellor of Aletheia University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, was also celebrated as a well-deserved achievement.

As a mark of appreciation, the Pro-Chancellor, assisted by the Vice-Chancellor, presented gifts to the honourees in recognition of their selfless service and lasting impact on the FUNAAB community.
