FUNAAB Launches Tree Planting Drive to Combat Deforestation and Promote Sustainability

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by launching a tree planting drive. The initiative, championed by the FUNAAB Alumni Association, aims to plant 100,000 economic tree seedlings on campus.

The tree planting ceremony, which began with the planting of 1,000 economic tree seedlings, was supported by donations from Alhaji Rasak Oso and Mr. Ayopo Somefun. The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council emphasized the importance of reforestation, citing the potential consequences of inaction, including the need to import trees in the near future.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed appreciation for the Alumni Association's support and reaffirmed the University's commitment to sustaining the project. The Honourable Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State commended the University and Alumni Association for promoting environmental conservation.
