FUOYE Medical and Pharmacy Students Face N30,000 Resit Exam Fee

It applies to students in the faculties of Pharmacy and Basic Medical Sciences, allowing them to resit for examinations starting from the 200 Level and above.
Medical and Pharmacy students at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State, are now required to pay a resit examination fee of N30,000 for any failed exams, according to a memo released by the university's management.
The memo, signed by the Registrar, Mufutau Ibrahim, revealed that this decision was reached during a university meeting held on August 7, 2023. It applies to students in the faculties of Pharmacy and Basic Medical Sciences, allowing them to resit for examinations starting from the 200 Level and above.

The memo, dated October 13, 2023, states, "The management also approved that the examination re-sit fee shall be N30,000 only per course."

However, this announcement has raised concerns among some students, who view the fee as prohibitively high. A 300-level pharmacy student, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed, "The N30,000 per course is too much, especially for those of us with multiple courses to resit."

Another student stated, "I can't even tell my parents about this, and I have four courses to resit. I don't know what to do at the moment, maybe give up on life. I know it's my fault that I scored below 50 in the exam, but N30,000 is too much in this economy."
Efforts are being made by student leaders to engage with the university management on this issue, though as of the time of this report, no official statement has been provided by the university regarding these concerns.
