FUTA Expands International Scholars’ Lodge with New Chalets
The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has begun the expansion of its International Scholars’ Lodge to provide additional chalets for scholars and researchers engaged in academic programmes within and outside the country.

The project, awarded to Prodemiks Global Investment Limited, was formalized with the signing of contract papers and a Memorandum of Understanding at the Vice Chancellor’s office on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Speaking at the event, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, said the expansion reflects the University’s commitment to supporting staff, students, and the global academic community. She explained that the chalets will upgrade the Scholars’ Lodge to modern standards and strengthen FUTA’s capacity to host international visitors.
Professor Oladiji assured the contractor of timely fund releases to ensure smooth delivery, while urging strict compliance with specifications and deadlines. She emphasized that the University expects quality service in exchange for prompt financial support.

The Director of the Directorate of Physical Planning, Engr. Folorunso Boyinbode, noted that the project is fully financed through the University’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and was approved by the Governing Council after due procurement processes. He said the chalets will significantly improve the comfort and standard of the Scholars’ Lodge.
Project Consultant, Architect Oluwadepo Oyetunde, reminded the contractor to maintain effective communication with all parties involved, stressing that consultants must remain actively engaged to achieve the project’s goals.
Present at the signing were the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Timothy Amos; Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Professor Sunday Oluyamo; Registrar, Mr. Charles Adeleye; Bursar, Mr. Peter Osadugba; University Librarian, Dr. Robert Awoyemi; Project Director, Architect Kunle Ayodele; Managing Director of Prodemiks Limited, Mr. Michael Oderinde; along with staff of the Directorate of Physical Planning and the Scholars’ Lodge.
