In a shocking turn of events, a security guard at the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has been tragically killed in an attack by Fulani herdsmen. The incident, which occurred late Thursday night, has sent shockwaves throughout the university community and beyond.
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL), a prominent sociopolitical youth group in the region, has swiftly condemned the attack, labeling it as a heinous act of violence. COSEYL President General, Comrade Goodluck Ibem, expressed deep concern over the ease with which criminals accessed the university premises, emphasizing the urgent need for enhanced security measures.

The attack, marked by heavy shooting and tear gas, left several others injured and has sparked fear and tension among students and faculty members alike. In response, COSEYL has called upon the Federal Ministry of Education to expedite the fencing of the entire school premises and to clear the surrounding bushes and forests to deter future attacks.

Furthermore, COSEYL has urged the Federal Minister of Works to prioritize the rehabilitation of the road leading to FUTO to facilitate swift access for security agencies.
