Governor Ododo Reassures CUSTECH Students of Improved Security
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo assures improved security at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara.
Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has assured students and management at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) Osara of enhanced safety measures following a recent abduction incident, in a determined effort to bolster security.
Governor Ododo made this commitment during a meeting with 29 rescued students from the university who were freed from abductors that attacked the campus on May 9, 2024, taking away 31 students. The Governor pledged to complete the university's perimeter fencing within 16 weeks and ensure comprehensive security surveillance with rapid emergency response capabilities.

Highlighting his administration's dedication to safeguarding educational institutions, Governor Ododo emphasized ongoing reviews of CUSTECH's security architecture aligned with the state's safe school initiative. He affirmed his unwavering determination to provide accessible education for Kogi's youth, undeterred by criminal elements.
Moreover, Governor Ododo announced plans to immortalize the memory of two slain students, James Anajuwe and Caleb Musa, who tragically lost their lives during the abduction. He inspected key university projects including the Senate Building, new hostels, and demonstration farms, underscoring his commitment to CUSTECH's development.

Honourable Wemi Jones, the state's commissioner for education, lauded the Governor's swift action in rescuing the abducted students and expressed condolences for the lives lost, assuring preventive measures against future incidents.

Professor Abdulrahaman Salawu, Vice Chancellor of CUSTECH, extended gratitude to Governor Ododo for his support throughout the crisis and pledged collaboration to accelerate university progress.
