Governor Soludo Declares Free Education for Senior Secondary Schools in Anambra State

Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has announced the introduction of free education for students in senior secondary public schools. This significant policy change was revealed during a meeting with principals and head teachers of public primary and secondary schools in Awka on Thursday.

The governor’s announcement comes on the heels of his earlier declaration on September 21, 2023, which implemented free and compulsory education from nursery to junior secondary levels in Anambra’s public schools. Under the new initiative, senior secondary students will only be required to pay a nominal tuition fee of N5,000.

Starting next week, this free education policy will officially take effect, aiming to enhance accessibility to education for children and foster their personal, intellectual, and physical development. Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of this initiative despite the resource constraints facing his administration.

“This move is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of workers and students in Anambra, improving their standard of living and access to quality education,” he added.
