Mary's journey toward these scholarships was far from straightforward. She applied to over 15 different schools and scholarships, encountering numerous rejections, indifference, and even admission offers without funding along the way. Despite the hurdles and disappointments, she persevered, motivated by the stories of individuals who had faced even greater numbers of rejections before attaining their scholarships.

After receiving nine rejections, two non-responses, and one admission offer with no funding, Mary's determination eventually paid off. She received three fully funded scholarships, each with its unique appeal. The scholarships granted her the opportunity to pursue her Ph.D. at esteemed institutions. She was awarded the Deepmind Scholarship and the Doctoral Teaching Scholarship for Imperial College London, a renowned Russell Group school, ranked as the 7th best institution globally and the 3rd in the UK. Mary was also awarded the TIGP Rising Star Scholarship in Taiwan.
