Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai (IBBUL), has matriculated 4,937 students for the 2025/2026 academic session, with a firm warning from the university management against involvement in social vices.

At the institution’s 19th matriculation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Hadi Suleiman, emphasised a zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct, including cultism, examination malpractice, cybercrime, drug abuse, thuggery, cohabitation, and indecent dressing.

He cautioned that such behaviours are incompatible with the university’s academic standards and would not be tolerated under any circumstances. According to him, the institution remains committed to maintaining a disciplined environment that supports academic success and personal development.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the newly admitted students to strictly adhere to the university’s rules and regulations, noting that any deviation could undermine their academic goals. While congratulating them on securing admission, he encouraged them to take full advantage of the institution’s facilities and contribute to their upkeep.

He further stated that the university has strengthened its internal systems to uphold discipline and ensure high standards in teaching and research. These measures, he noted, are designed to guarantee a conducive learning environment free from discrimination and harassment.

Representing the Visitor to the university and Governor of Niger State, Mohammed Umar Bago, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Alhaji Sirajo Saidu, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to sustaining bursary payments for indigenous students.

He advised the matriculants to remain focused and disciplined, warning against distractions that could derail their academic and future aspirations.
