Iconic University to Train Over 5000 Sokoto State Civil Servants in Partnership with MIDE

Iconic Open University in Sokoto State is set to train over 5,000 personnel in the state’s civil service, following a recent visit by a delegation from the Ministry of Innovation and Digital Economy (MIDE). Led by Hon. Commissioner Bashar Umar Kwabo and Permanent Secretary Dr. Nasir Daniya, the delegation met with the university's management to discuss a partnership aimed at enhancing the skills of Sokoto's civil servants.
During the visit, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Shadi Sabeh outlined the university's proposal to offer technology-driven professional development programs focused on digital literacy and sector-specific growth. The programs aim to support civil servants in improving their efficiency and adapting to the evolving digital landscape.
As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the university also plans to establish two education resource centers at the Usman Faruk and Shehu Kangiwa Secretariats to assist in-service trainees throughout their programs.
Hon. Kwabo expressed strong backing for the initiative, emphasizing the critical role of equipping government employees with the necessary digital and professional skills to improve service delivery in Sokoto State. This partnership marks a significant step toward workforce development in the region.
