Terhile Timothy Achinya, a mechanical engineering student at Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, has tragically died after being reportedly beaten by soldiers. The incident has ignited outrage within the polytechnic community and calls for justice.
According to sources, the violence began when Samuel Ejembi, a student, informed military personnel about alleged cult activities involving some students. The soldiers detained several individuals, including Ejembi and the accused, on Friday last week at Eji World, an entertainment center near the polytechnic campus.
Jacob John Mutuwa, the Students Union Government President, confirmed the incident and detailed how Achinya was tortured by the soldiers before his death. His body was later taken to Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital (DASH) in Lafia.
