The South-South Regional Office of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has conducted a Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) orientation at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

The South-South Regional Office of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has conducted a Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) orientation at the Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny.

The session, held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, was designed to prepare students for their upcoming industrial attachment and ensure compliance with the scheme’s guidelines.

Leading the ITF delegation was Mr. Cabral Angereke, the Area Manager, represented by the Head of Training, Mr. Benjamin Voncir. He was accompanied by Mrs. Chioma Monye, SIWES Accountant, and Mr. Manuel Enajerho, SIWES Schedule Officer. The team was warmly received by the Dean of the School of Business Studies and Management Technology, Dr. Dominic Ojatta, alongside other principal officers of the institution.

The orientation, which was mandatory for all students enlisted in the SIWES program, covered critical areas such as logistics, reporting procedures, documentation, evaluation processes, and workplace conduct. Students were guided on how to correctly complete their logbooks and were briefed on employer expectations in industrial environments.

The session also featured lectures and keynote addresses from facilitators and industry stakeholders, providing practical insights into bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications. Students had the opportunity to engage directly with ITF officials, industrial representatives, and polytechnic coordinators through a dedicated question-and-answer segment.

Highlighting the importance of the exercise, Mr. Voncir, on behalf of the ITF Area Manager, emphasized that the scheme was designed to equip students with relevant practical skills and prepare them for the challenges of the workforce.

The Public Relations Officer of the Polytechnic, Anthony Ogbe (SAR) (MCAI), described the event as a milestone in strengthening industry-academia collaboration, noting that the Polytechnic continues to engage key stakeholders in pursuit of quality education and professional development for its students.
