JAMB Extends Direct Entry Registration Amid High Demand, Announces Supplementary UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announced on Sunday that the 2024 Direct Entry (DE) registration will now close on Monday, June 17, 2024. To accommodate the increased number of prospective DE candidates, JAMB has expanded DE registration points beyond the Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) in states experiencing high demand.

This decision comes in response to numerous requests and pleas from stakeholders and authorities over the past month for an extension. JAMB's spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, listed the new registration centres in affected states, including Lagos, Oyo, Kwara, and Osun.

JAMB emphasized that all eligible candidates should take advantage of this opportunity to register, as no further extension will be entertained. The previously announced criteria for DE registration remain unchanged.

Regarding the Kwasu Diploma, the Board held high-stake meetings with the principal officers of the Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (CAILS) and the Kwara State University (KWASU). As a result, JAMB will conduct a special registration exercise for the 3,633 prospective candidates who did not participate in the 2024 UTME based on the assumption that they would be accommodated in the 2024 DE exercise. These candidates are to register at any approved CBT centres in Kwara, Oyo, or Osun State within the next week, ending on Monday, June 10, 2024.

Additionally, JAMB announced a supplementary 2024 UTME scheduled for Saturday, June 22, 2024. This will cater to the CAILS-KWASU candidates, 20,550 candidates whose results are still under investigation, and 2,702 candidates whose fingerprints could not be verified. However, 322 candidates have been migrated to the category of examination misconduct.

Moreover, JAMB disclosed that 3,921 outstanding 2024 UTME results have now been cleared and released. Affected candidates can check their results by sending "RESULT" to 55019 or 66019.

The rescheduled examination aims to give affected candidates adequate time to prepare. Candidates with prima facie cases of examination misconduct will be further interrogated to establish their culpability, after which appropriate measures will be announced.
