JAMB Uncovers 1,665 Fake A-Level Results During DE Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed the discovery of 1,665 fraudulent A-Level results during the 2023 Direct Entry (DE) registration process. The Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this information during a meeting with the leadership of the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) in Abuja on Tuesday.

According to Professor Oloyede, the verification process for A-level results exposed widespread corruption within the system. Out of the total number of fake results uncovered, 397 were attributed to Colleges of Education, 453 to university diplomas, and the remainder to various other A-level certificates.

Expressing concern over the lack of respect for legitimately obtained certificates, Professor Oloyede emphasized the importance of safeguarding the integrity of A-level certificates to uphold the credibility of the admission process.

Highlighting a specific case, the registrar cited Bayero University, Kano, where out of 148 Direct Entry applications received, only six certificates were deemed genuine upon scrutiny. This alarming discovery prompted urgent action, including a meeting of key stakeholders to address the issue and devise strategies to combat fraud in the registration process.

The association presented complaints from its members and requested additional DE registration centers to alleviate registration difficulties.
