Kogi Poly Rector’s Son Usman Shamsudeen Launches Sickle Cell Awareness Foundation

Usman Shamsudeen, son of the Kogi State Polytechnic Rector, Prof. (Chief) Usman Salisu Ogbo, unveiled his Sickle Cell Foundation, aimed at raising awareness and providing crucial support to those affected by sickle cell disease. Family, friends, and supporters gathered to celebrate the launch, marking an important milestone in Usman’s journey and his dedication to health advocacy.

Diagnosed with sickle cell disease at a young age, Usman has faced significant challenges, including severe pain and complex health issues. Born in May 2010, his initial months were joyful until his parents noticed troubling symptoms at six months old. Despite the diagnosis, his family, particularly his father and mother, Hajiya Hanatu Usman Ogbo, have provided unwavering support, ensuring he receives the best care possible.

A dedicated student with aspirations to become a neurosurgeon, Usman’s passion for Biology fuels his dream of helping others with serious health challenges. “My goal is to specialize in neurosurgery,” he shared, reflecting a deep commitment to overcoming his own struggles and making a difference.

Usman’s foundation seeks to provide a support network for individuals with sickle cell disease, raise awareness, and foster a compassionate community. In his closing remarks, he appealed for support from attendees, underscoring the importance of collective effort in creating lasting change.
