 Kwara State University (KWASU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Abdul Kabir Hussain Solihu as the new Director of the Centre for Research and Development. Professor Solihu, a distinguished scholar with expertise in Islamic Thought, Comparative Religion, Religion and Ecology, Environmental Ethics, Qur’anic Studies, and Computational Linguistics, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this critical role.

Professor Solihu's academic journey includes studies at prestigious institutions such as Al-Azhar University in Cairo and the International Islamic University, Malaysia (IIUM). His scholarly contributions are well-recognized, with numerous publications and a commercialized product, the ROTAS Transliteration Kit, to his credit.

Before joining KWASU, Professor Solihu was a prominent figure at IIUM’s Faculty of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences, where he served from 2003 to 2016. During his tenure, he was the editor of the Web of Science and Scopus-indexed journal, Intellectual Discourse.

At KWASU, Professor Solihu has been serving as a full professor since 2016. His previous roles at the university include Director of KWASU Press, Provost of the College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, and the pioneering Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

In his new capacity as Director of the Centre for Research and Development, Professor Solihu will lead initiatives aimed at advancing research and innovation within the university. His extensive background and interdisciplinary expertise are expected to drive significant progress and foster a culture of research excellence at KWASU.
