PAAU Donates Two Operational Vehicles, Reconstitutes Disciplinary Committees to Strengthen Campus Security
The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, PAAU, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has reinforced the institution’s security architecture with the donation of two branded operational vehicles to security agencies to support anti-cultism operations and enhance safety on campus and in the host community.
The announcement was made at an Expanded Security Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the University Council Chamber. The meeting brought together members of the University community, security agencies, traditional rulers, and other critical stakeholders to deliberate on strategies for strengthening security within and around the University.
Prof. Usman said the vehicles were purchased as part of the University’s deliberate efforts to stamp out criminal activities, including cultism and other social vices. He disclosed that one vehicle has been dedicated to the Joint Security and Anti-Cultism Squad, while the second will strengthen routine patrols by the Security Patrol Team within the University and its environs.

The Vice-Chancellor also announced that the University Management Committee, UMC, at its 403rd Meeting approved the reconstitution of the Students’ Disciplinary Committee and the Examination Misconduct Committee to strengthen discipline and ensure strict enforcement of university regulations.
In addition, he disclosed the establishment of a Committee on Behavioural Change and Cult Renunciation to identify, counsel, and rehabilitate students involved in anti-social activities. He noted that the initiative would provide affected students an opportunity to renounce unlawful associations, while warning that those who refuse to desist would face the full weight of the law.
Addressing concerns over a viral video, Prof. Usman urged the public to disregard claims linking cult activities to PAAU Anyigba, clarifying that the incident did not occur in the University or in Kogi State. He described the video as misleading and malicious, intended to cause unnecessary panic.
He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to the safety of lives and property and appreciated the support of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the immediate past Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, for their contributions to the institution’s peaceful academic environment.
The Ogohi Onu-Anyigba, HRH Alhaji Shaibu Okolo, and the Chairman of Dekina LGA, Hon. John Urah Ikani, commended the Management’s proactive security measures and pledged continued support for peace and safety in the University community.
Heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, and host community representatives in attendance unanimously reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the University’s efforts to maintain a safe and secure environment for teaching, learning, and research.
